Frequently Asked Questions:
1) How are you feeling? Queasy and tired, thanks. And you?
2) How far along are you? 18 weeks. And, yes, still regularly visited by the quease. The second trimester is a myth. So is the “morning” in morning sickness. Just so you know. Oh, and I have to pee. Again.
3) When are you due? February 11 – give or take a few days. Yes, a Valentine’s baby. No, Cupid and Valentine are not naming options.
4) Okay, so are there any names that you do want to use? Yes.
5) Well, what are they? A surprise. They are a surprise. They are also subject to change. We’ll announce in February.
6) Girl or boy? Yes, we hope so. Oh, you mean, which one? We’ll know in a few weeks, but we have some preliminary results. We’re just waiting for backup to know for certain. Don’t want to announce one and have it turn out to be the other after all.
7) So you’re going to find out? Yup. That’s the plan. I never was big on surprises.
8) Will you tell us? If you ask nicely. I’ll probably announce it on Twitter and Facebook first.
9) Is this your first? Yes. Otherwise you’d probably have seen me mention other children a time or two.
10) So is this why you haven’t written in a while? Or, visited my blog? (Not to sound pouty, but…
Yeah, among other things. Like the flu (which is no fun without Dayquil, let me tell you). And multiple internet outages (still). And a very busy time at work.

WOW! Congratulations! And I think “Surprise” is a lovely name for a baby.

Congratulations Caryn!

Squee! I love it when other people have babies. I get all the cuteness without the headache. (or quease, swollen ankles, a small human being sitting on my bladder, etc.)
YAY!

Congrats!!!!
September 12th, 2009 at 1:16 pm
@Katie – LOL! I was wondering if anyone would mention that. I know a few people for whom Surprise would have been a very fitting name!
@Thanks, Dru & Natalie! We feel very blessed.
@Melissa – LOL! So glad you can live vicariously through others without having to go through the symptoms. You’ve already had your chance to deal with queasiness, exhaustion, etc. I’m sure you’re well over it.

Humph. The Katie who posted first took away exactly what I was going to say (re: Surprise being a great name for a baby of either sex).
In any case, congrats, and please let me know if there is anything I can do, since I live close, and can actually do more than send good wishes…please don’t ask for breakfast in bed, though. I won’t even do that for my own husband (crumbs, you know). But WAIT! You don’t share my bed! Maybe I would do it for you! Heh heh heh.

Wooohoo! I didn’t know you were pregnant! HUGE congrats.
I know so many pregnant people right now, there must be something going around. LOL

Super news, Caryn! Heaps of congratulations! Do enjoy the ‘putting your feet up’ moments in the middle of all the queasiness and tiredness. I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes as smoothly as possible! Stay well…

I was wondering if you were going to go with the traditional girl=pink/boy=blue for color schemes or if you were going to take it differently. Green or yellow is popular, as are themes–Disney, Jungle, or given you, Books.
I would also like to take this opportunity to let you know that not only is Valentine’s Day a major holiday in February (even though you weren’t going to go with names like Cupid and Valentine), but President’s Day is on the list of Top Ten Hottest Birthdays For Your Child.
I mean really–who wants their birthday on something flashy like New Year’s, or celebratory like July 4th? The kids of today want a *substantial* birthday, sharing their special day with those of men they’re forced to write reports on in the 4th grade. Just think–the Caldwell baby could be a Chester or a Grover, and maybe, I say juuuuuuuust maybe, you could shoot the moon and have the next generation be a Rutherford of a Millard. (These names, joining such trailblazers as Apple and Audio Science, are so gloriously 21st century unisex that they’d work for a boy or a girl.) With such a special name, on such a special day, your little boy or girl could take over the world.

The quease will pass, as will the tiredness, but I feel your pain. It only gets better!

Aww YAY! Congrats! We’re only about 7 or so weeks apart.
September 21st, 2009 at 4:29 pm
I had no idea, Caryn. You’re forgiven for not posting <VBG>. I wish you all the best and a less-bumpy road for the remainder of your journey together.
September 22nd, 2009 at 6:03 am
Congratulations, Caryn! And it looks like your baby will be an Aquarian, the same astrological sign as moi.
Hope the queasiness is subsiding.
September 25th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
How wonderful!!!!! (except for the frequent peeing. And the morning-AKA 24/7– sickness.)
It’ll all be worth it!
Children are a true gift! Congrats!
